Clare Donohue

"Clare’s sultry sound brings to mind the greats: Sarah Vaugn, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Lamott, Diane Schur, Keely Smith etc.."

Her two greatest influences were Billie Holiday and Doris Day and you can hear both of them in her voice!

She performs jazz, torch/cabaret, standards and much of the Great American Songbook. She has the clarity of Frank Sinatra as well as the heavy NY accent when she speaks! Her debut CD was “Torch Baby Torch”. Her 2nd CD “Here I Go Again” has some contemporary tunes on it. Both CDs are available through her website ( She is recording an original CD this year!

Growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y. Clare sang back up for origina rock band 911 featuring Joe Leone on guitar and performed all over NYC. She sang was in the studio at 19 years of age improvising. She later teamed up with Bonnie Cameron doing “acoustic soul” around Greenich Village and the upper west side of Manhattan.

The smoothness of her voice/sound also had her singing a few soundtracks, commercials and even a little voice over work.

In Ft. Lauderdale the late great Fred Silver accompanied her and wrote songs for her. She was the featured vocalist with the Doc Rogers Big Band as well as her own duo, trio and quintet with John Aubrey, Rob Sherber, Ariel Ramos and Anthony Cassimassima. Since moving deep south she is a featured vocalist with The Rocket City Jazz Orchestra; has started playing around town with Stephen Powers and veteran jazz cat R.T. Bolden (Freddy Hubbard, Chet Baker).
